Summary: Sole Common is a small site set on the side of a gravel ridge. It consists of a small lake and surrounding woodland. There are sweet chestnut woods, beech, old birch scrub and a flush running into the lake.
Description: Acid lake with fringed sphagnum and rushes. Small areas of wet Calluna/Molinia heath. The stream source is a flush coning out of the base of the gravel.
Reason for interest: Acid nutrient-poor lake. Dragonflies
