Summary: Gorge in the Nidderdale AONB in a fairly remote part of Yorkshire.

Description: Limestone gorge with fast flowing water and cliffs on either side with under cut rock and vegetation including trees, ivy, moss and ramsons. Water comes from the peat moorlands. Water run off down the cliffs. There are a number of caves in the area.

Reason for interest:

Comment: We saw a meta menardi there if we identified it correctly. I uploaded a photo taken at about 11pm of a spider upside down on it's web in front of a dripping wet mossy crack in a limestone overhang above a footpath within the gorge.
