Summary: Snelsmore Common consists of a gravel plateau managed for Calluna heath. There are three valley mires (SSI) with steep wet hillsides. The heath has invasive birch, but on the north there is established oak woodland. On the west there below the spring line there is mature oak/ash woodland.

Reason for interest: Great diversity of habitats. The SSI designation is for the mires. Nightjar nesting. Reptiles
