Habitat and ecology
Any differences in the habitat preferences of A. cauta and this species are not yet known. It occurred commonly in blanket bog in Scotland with A. cauta. Adults of both sexes have been recorded in summer.
A. olivacea was only recognised as a separate species distinct from A. cauta (O. P.-Cambridge) and described from Britain by Hippa & Oksala in 1985. It may be frequent in suitable habitat.
Drainage and erosion of blanket bogs are likely to be the principal threats to this species.
Management and conservation
Ensure the water table of blanket bogs is maintained at high levels.
