About this species

Distribution
Approximately ten specimens have been recorded from only three sites in southern Britain: Bloxworth Heath and Morden Park in Dorset and a single site in Suffolk. The last record dates from 1913. The species is patchily distributed in Europe.

Habitat and ecology
Most records were from heather but some were from grass in swamps. Adults of both sexes have been recorded in May with males in August and September.

Status
As it has not been recorded for almost a century now presumed extinct.

Threats
The loss and afforestation of heathlands.

Management and conservation
More data are required on the habitat requirements of this species before a management strategy can be suggested.
