About this speciesRecorded altitude range
Tegenaria ramblae has been found in Britain on just one occasion (2008) when a single male was discovered at Southwark. In Europe, it is known only from Spain and Portugal, with the first female described in 1978 (Barrientos 1978) and the first male in 1992 (Barrientos & Ribera 1992).
Habitat and ecology
The British specimen was found on a brownfield site, with flower rich herbaceous vegetation, sparsely vegetated ground and areas with debris and scrub. The spider was taken from an open rubbly area with Buddleia. A further search failed to find more specimens; the site is now built over (Peter Harvey, pers. comm.).
