This species seems particularly associated with dry or seasonally wet Phragmites areas, including where these occur on the edges of saltmarsh along Thames creeks. The long thin body may be an adaptation to allow it to hide and/or over-winter in dead Phragmites stems. Could be true also for Marpissa nivoyi.
