Notes on Singa hamata
Singa hamata (Clerck): the first Welsh record by Kefyn Catley
From The Newsletter No. 46 July 1986
An adult female Singa hamata was taken on 13th October
1985 on Cors Caron N.C.C. Reserve, Tregaron, Dyfed
(Nat. Grid Ref. SN 683622). This species seems to be
well-established on extensive heather tracts on both the
south-east and north-east bogs of Cors Caron, for
subsequently six females with their characteristic egg-sacs
were found. I thank the Reserve Warden for his help and
advice and Dr Peter Merrert for confirming the
identification.
