Species text
DistributionThe only British record for this species is of a single female from Point of Ayr near Prestatyn, Denbighshire in 2010 (Davidson, 2010). This is a circum-polar species recorded from Sweden, Finland, Siberia, Canada and Alaska. At present it is not clear if this is truly a native species to the UK or a casual introduction although the latter seems a little more unlikely given the isolated and semi-natural nature of the saltmarsh where it was collected.
Habitat and ecology
The only British specimen was collected from beneath a boulder on the edge of a saltmarsh in N. Wales. In Scandinavia and Russia, it has been recorded from pebble beaches and rock scree (Marusik, 2004). Without further specimens it is impossible to determine its preferred habitat in Britain.
Status
None assigned. Further searches for this species are needed in suitable habitats, particularly in Wales and Scotland.
