DistributionThe species is widespread in England in a band from Cheshire, Yorkshire and the Midlands to the south-east. Elsewhere the Distribution: is very scattered and there are few records from western Britain or north of Yorkshire. A Palaearctic species widespread in north-western and central Europe.
Habitat and ecology
S. reussi occurs in straw, undergrowth, manure heaps and cut vegetation in gardens, sometimes in abundance. Adults of both sexes have been recorded almost throughout the year.
Status
Local. The name S. reussi (Thorell) was shown by Locket (1962) to be a senior synonym of S. interjectus (O. P.-Cambridge).
